Building more principled, intentional, and humane relationships
As I think about the roses and thorns of 2023, I realized that both are centered on relationships and community. The year 2023 was one in which I put intentional time into building stronger individual and community relationships. This required vulnerability, risk taking and a willingness to take accountability for ways in which I acted out of integrity. My roses and thorns are intertwined as I often had to go through some extremely prickly and painful experiences to get to the flowers of deeper relationships. The core Principles of The People's Institute of Survival and Beyond (PISAB) are a guide in my relationship building. One of the Principles I relied on is “Networking”. It states, “We recognize that the growth of a movement for social transformation requires networking – ‘building a net that works.’ Networking means building principled relationships based on humane values.”
As I move into this new year, I am committed to building more principled, intentional, and humane relationships. I am sure, without a doubt, that there will be prickly and painful moments along the way. I also know that these moments are the building blocks for trust, accountability and true anti-racist relationships.
See you on the journey,
Robin
